TWO DAYS TRAINING WORKSHOP- PREPARING SCHOOLS FOR PANDEMIC (OCTOBER 03 & 04, 2020)
 

 

NABET- QCI organised a two days workshop preparing the schools for pandemic vis-à-vis to the safe reopening of schools from October 03 to 04, 2020. NABET is a constituent board of Quality Council of India, an autonomous body set up by DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce  and Industry, Govt. of India. The resources persons were Mr. Saurabh Arora, Assistant Director, NABET and Dr. Sheela, Faculty members for QCI.

 

 

The workshop included in-depth guidelines for safe reopening of schools during the Pandemic of Covid-19,  providing a comprehensive overview of not just what to do, but how to do itThe workshop mainly covered the following aspects – Health & Hygiene, Physical Infrastructure, Teaching & Learning and Governance & Management.

 

Over 90 teachers across the country attended the workshop. During Covid-19, to maintain health and hygiene is of primary importance. Ways were suggested to maintain social distancing through marking areas with colourful tapes, stagger learning as far as possible, creating various provisions to secure the safety and health of the children like screening process through use of thermometer, wearing mask correctly, placing sanitiser dispensers, putting colourful stickers and posters as constant reminders for the students, re organising the furniture of classrooms, laboratories, cafeteria, formation of isolation room, etc. In short, it covered all aspects regarding the new methodologies to be adopted in the post lockdown scenario right from probable touchpoints from the entry to the safe exit of the students.

 


A discussion was also held regarding important managerial high level decisions to be undertaken by school regarding their reopening plan that must include Respiratory and Hand Hygiene, Sanitisation Protocol, Screening and Medical Survelliance, Managing Symptoms and Quarantine, Safe Entry & Exit of staff and students, Corridors and Staircase Management, Usage of Washrooms, HVAC systems, etc.  Also emphasis must by laid upon Student Capacity and Class Sizes, Risk Assessment, Communication Strategy &  Reopening Schedule, Education Continuity, Student Behaviour, Staff Behaviour, Assessments and most importantly the Mental Health of students.

 

The workshop was very informative. Good practices being used all over the world during this Covid times, were shared during the workshop.
