XXIII GURGAON PROGRESSIVE SCHOOLS COUNCIL ANNUAL CONVENTION

The Gurgaon Progressive Schools Council (GPSC) held its XXIII Annual Convention on 4th May 2025, centered around the theme, “Nurturing Generations Alpha to Beta: Empowering Parents and Educators for Fostering Future Changemakers.” The convention brought together educators, thought leaders, and policymakers for a day of insightful dialogue focused on shaping emotionally intelligent, innovative, and future-ready learners.

The day commenced with a warm welcome ceremony and an Honour March led by student leaders from GPSC member schools. The inaugural session featured the ceremonial lamp lighting by distinguished guests and the inauguration of an art exhibition. A soulful student performance set the tone for the day, followed by the opening address by GPSC Chairperson Ms. Charu Maini.

A thematic dance titled “Passing the Torch” enriched the morning programme, leading into motivational addresses by BK Sister Shivani, Mr. Rohit Kumar, and Professor Madhu Parhar from IGNOU. Sister Shivani spoke about the harmful effects of “digital addiction,” encouraging thoughtful reflection on technology’s impact. She stressed the need to use gadgets as slaves, not become slaves to them, promoting mindful digital use to preserve emotional balance and human connection. Professor Madhu Parhar shared insightful thoughts on Generations Alpha and Beta, emphasizing the need for educational adaptability, digital fluency, and emotional nurturing to help these generations thrive in a rapidly changing world. The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Himanshu Gupta, Secretary, CBSE, who highlighted CBSE's firm stance on curbing dummy schools and ensuring quality in education. He emphasized the importance of teacher training and upskilling to support the evolving needs of learners and maintain integrity within the education system. Mr. Gupta also unveiled the GPSC Sahodaya Gurgaon Yearbook.

The afternoon programme deepened the dialogue around the convention’s core theme. Session II, “From Alpha to Beta: Cultivating Minds, Emotions and Innovation for the Future,” curated by Mr. Chetan Jaiswal, featured contributions from leading educators. Post-lunch, participants engaged in dynamic round table presentations, followed by Session V—a discussion titled “From Vision to Action: Empowering Educators for the Alpha to Beta Shift.” Led by Ms. Rupa Chakravarty, this discussion featured insights from Capt. Indu Boken and Ms. Meaghan Blight, focusing on actionable strategies for schools and teachers. The convention concluded with a Valedictory Session featuring Mr. Manoj Srivastava (Director, Training, CBSE). The day ended with a group photo with CBSE dignitaries, a heartfelt wrap-up by the GPSC executive board, and a musical farewell.

The convention served as a dynamic platform for collaboration, inspiration, and commitment—strengthening the collective resolve to empower the next generation of changemakers through progressive education and united leadership. GD Goenka Public School, sector 48, under the visionary leadership of Ms. Anuradha Handa, stands firmly resolved to contribute meaningfully to this mission and create a lasting impact in the lives of learners.
